CSIR-CECRI-Godi India signs MoA to make lithium-ion cells in Chennai


CSIR-CECRI (Central Electrochemical Research Institute) and Hyderabad-based Godi India have entered into a public-private partnership (PPP) to operate and maintain advanced lithium-ion cells manufacturing facility in Chennai. The agreement is first of its kind in the country in this space.

The facility was inaugurated by Dr Shekhar C Mande, Former Secretary DSIR and Former Director General, CSIR inaugurated in the presence of Dr Kalaiselvi, Director, CECRI.

“CSIR is a treasure of knowledge covering all facets of science. CSIR is contributing a lot in the Space, Defence, Nuclear and other societal applications. Partnering with Godi India marks a new chapter in the development of advanced lithium-ion cells with regard to next-generation of energy storage applications. We have taken a step further to provide fruitful contribution to the ultimate benefit of the country under ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’,” commented  Dr Shekhar C Mande.

Dr N Kalaiselvi, Director, CECRI said, “It is a glorious occasion for India in the area of energy storage for manufacturing lithium-ion cells initiated by CECRI in partnership with Godi India in presence of Dr Shekhar Mande, Former Secretary DSIR and Former Director General- CSIR in a function held at CSIR-CECRI’s Chennai Centre at Taramani”.

Mahesh Godi, Founder and CEO, Godi India, said, “This partnership is just a beginning of development of next-generation cells for mobility, ESS applications and new R&D projects. Godi India will operate and maintain the facility to manufacture advance lithium-ion cells and cater to various applications ranging from e-mobility to large scale energy storage systems. This partnership signifies our credibility and testimony of technology strength in lithium-ion cells manufacturing”

“Currently, all the lithium-ion cells are being imported mostly from China and South Korea. Godi India is the first Indian company to manufacture made-in-India and made-for-India lithium-ion cells, which is certified by BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards), tested and qualified by TUV, the third-party testing agency. With this, Godi India can manufacture and sell the cells at par to the standard cells available in the world market.”

GODI India is an innovative cell manufacturer focusing on research and development (R&D), and Giga scale Manufacturing (Indigenous Gigafactory) and Recycling of sustainable green energy storage technology.

Mahabaleshwar

Nestling in the Sahyadri range of the Western Ghats, Mahabaleshwar is the highest hill station in Western India and it as religious and historical associations. My trip to this hill station started from the Bollywood city of Mumbai. I took a bus from Dadar one of the busiest places in Mumbai. The air-condition bus cost Rs. 300 and it will take about four to five hours. During my trip I did various activities I visited ancient temples, beautiful points of Mahabaleshwar, unforgettable trek to Pratapgad Fort, a stronghold of the Maratha leader Shivaji, boating at lake and finally roamed through the tiny lanes of the bazaar, and did some shopping from luscious strawberries, blackberries, jams and jellies. Somnathpur finest example of Hoysala architecture

Talakad and Somnathpur is one of the finest examples of Hoysala Dynasty architecture. My drive started from Mysore and it took more than 2 hours to cover 32 kms by road since roads are heavily damaged. Talakad is situated on the left bank of the River Cauvery. It is one of the oldest towns in the state. It was capital of the Gangas [6th century A.D.], Talakad has a number of temples including Vaidyeshware. Most of the temples are buried by sand, a few buildings, including a 12th century Hoysala temple, still poke through the surface. Once every 12 years this surreal temple is dug out for the performance of Panchalinga Darshan, though it doesn’t take long for it to be smothered once again by the sand.
